Reflection Questions

Reflection helps kids think about what they have done and the impact of their project. Many activities can help bring a service project full circle, but one that we recommend is talking as a group. Here are some questions that you can use to guide conversation for wrap-up:

1. How did you feel before you started the project?

2. What did you learn about gardening and composting?

3. What was your biggest challenge for the day? How did you handle it? Could it happen again? What will you do if it does?

4. How does this project compare with anything you have done in the past?

5. What was your favorite part of the day? Why?

6. What advice would you give someone doing a service project for the first time?

7. What can you do to teach others what you learned today?

Follow-Up Activity:
One of the wonderful benefits of community gardening is the opportunity to share in the lives of a variety of different people. Using your experience in the garden, share with your school or agency your involvement and contributions. You can design a bulletin board; write an article for your local or school paper; or give a talk to showcase your efforts.
