Catch the Buzz!
Read what some of our partner agencies are saying
about Hands On Nashville…
Because Project Reflect does
not employ a volunteer coordinator, Hands On
Nashville is essential to our volunteer program.
Their new volunteer website sends us volunteers with
specific talents, such as a seamstress. The fall and
spring volunteer days alone give us over $2,000 of
equivalent labor each year through cheerful,
hard-working, and often highly-skilled community
volunteers. The Hands On Nashville staff goes the
extra mile, which opens up all kinds of
opportunities for us. We consider HON our good
friends and partners in ministry to those in need.
- Joan Anderson, Administrative Assistant, Project
Reflect
In 1999 Friends of Nashville
Public Library asked Hands On Nashville if they
would be able to provide volunteers to assist with
the 2nd Saturday Book sale…which raises the necessary
funding for Davidson County’s Summer Reading
Program. Over the past six years Hands On Nashville
has provided volunteers for each and every sale. We
have been blessed to have the same project
coordinator from HON…who has missed approximately
four sales over the past six years! On several
occasions she has taken charge of the sale in the
absence of the Library’s Volunteer Coordinator. In
total, HON volunteers have given 1024.95 hours in
service since 1999. Hats off to Hands On Nashville!
The Library staff thank you, the Community thanks
you and the children of Davidson County thank you.
- Christine McMeans, Volunteer Coordinator, Nashville
Public Library
Oh my gosh! I never dreamed we
would have that great of a response from your Hands
On Call email blast. We had almost 10 people respond
in just one day! [A volunteer] not only e-mailed me
day one but he also called, and luckily we were able
to e-mail him the database and he got to work right
away!! The other volunteers are also willing to help
with data entry and in the future if this ever
happens again (which as we know in non-profits, it
will!)…HUGE SUCCESS for us!! Thanks again, you’re a
lifesaver!!!!
- Wendy Hamlin, Special Events/Volunteer Coordinator,
High Hopes, Inc.
Working with Hands On Nashville
has allowed our residents to enjoy activities with
volunteers from all over Nashville. The commitment
of these volunteers is a true source of pleasure for
our residents and staff.
- Mary Bennet, CEO, Bordeaux Long-Term Care
HON volunteers are always
well-organized and prepared to work hard. We’ve
received over 18 volunteers who have given 74 hours
of service to our efforts in the last six months!

Operations Manager, Project C.U.R.E.
