Hands On Nashville Day 2008 Back To Main

Hands On Nashville Day 2008
Nashville’s largest annual day of community service to Metro Schools
Saturday
September 27 8am-12pm

Hands On Nashville (HON) Day engages 1,000 community volunteers at approximately 50 public school sites to complete improvement projects that create healthier and safer environments for children. Projects typically include painting, landscaping, repairs, cleaning, organizing, and educational tool development.

Each year, Hands On Nashville Day saves Metro Schools $75,000* in labor costs, while providing community members an opportunity to directly support public education through volunteerism. *Calculated using The Corporation for National and Community Service’s hourly volunteer labor value of $18.75.

Hands On Nashville Day participants are primarily young professionals who live and work in Nashville and surrounding counties. Many college students also take part.

Hands On Nashville Day not only engages the community in service to Metro Schools, but also raises needed funds to support Hands On Nashville's year-round work. Each participant pays a $25 registration fee* which allows Hands On Nashville to provide volunteer support to over 200 Middle TN nonprofits, government agencies, and schools each year. *Hands On Nashville is a 501c3 and registration fee is tax deductible.

In addition to taking part in Nashville’s largest annual day of service to Metro Schools, participants also receive a t-shirt and invitation to the Celebration – the HON Day after party at LIMELIGHT from 12pm to 2pm. This party includes a complimentary lunch, entertainment, door prizes, and great give-a-ways.
