Hands On Nashville and United Way Link Volunteers in Rutherford and Cannon Counties

Hands On Nashville, in partnership with the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, launched Volunteer Opportunity Link “VOL.” VOL provides agencies funded by the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties with the opportunity to list their volunteer needs on Hands On Nashville’s website.

Let us introduce ourselves.

Hands On Nashville was founded in 1991 to help people find ways to transform the world around them by volunteering. HON provides opportunities for individuals and businesses to improve the greater Nashville community through participation in volunteer projects that address Middle Tennessee's most pressing needs. HON is excited to expand our programming into Rutherford and Cannon Counties. HON's main objective is to make volunteer opportunities accessible to everyone; no matter your schedule, ability, or skill. For this reason, many of HON's projects are held in the evenings and weekends. However, if you do have a special skill you'd like to use, or if you want a more long-term volunteer experience, HON can help you find that too!

What does volunteering with Hands On look like?

Hands On Nashville is your one-stop resource for volunteering in your community. Through the Hands On Nashville website, you can sign-up to volunteer for a one-time project or discover a long-term opportunity that suits your interests and skills. Below, you will find a brief overview of the two primary ways via Volunteer Classifieds and Skills-based Volunteering, you can connect to community service projects through Hands On.

Volunteer Classifieds

Hands On Nashville's nonprofit partners will post their individual, on-going volunteers needs, such as a volunteer office assistant or literacy pal, in the Volunteer Classifieds. Many of these volunteer opportunities ask for a certain time commitment each week or month.

Volunteer Classified positions are not managed by Hands On Nashville. It is the responsibility of the nonprofit agency to set-up and manage these volunteer opportunities.

Skills-Based Volunteering

Skills-based volunteerism is the intersection of people's professional or trade skills and experience and the needs of local nonprofits. This type of volunteerism enhances existing volunteer skills and develops new ones. It also fosters deeper relationships with nonprofit partners. Hands On Nashville is dedicated to serving its Agency Partners and to creating meaningful experiences for its volunteers.
