Tornado Assistance in Middle Tennessee Back To Main

Stan Brock, the founder and Director of Remote Area Medical (RAM) is planning a free medical clinic in Lafayette, TN to assist the community recently damaged by tornados. Medical equipment will be set up at a Lafayette-area school to treat patients starting at 6:00am Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4.  RAM will provide over twenty dental chairs, eye exam equipment, and other medical services. Their mobile unit will make free eyeglasses. Volunteers with medical/dental/optical skills are needed to assist during the clinic. To volunteer, contact B.J. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has taken action to assist those in need:

2. TEMA has also opened up a Resource Staging Center (RSC) located at 128 Distribution Pkwy, Portland, TN 37148-4664, in order to assist the counties and the victims they serve. You can call either 1-800-422-3443 or from Middle Tennessee 615-323-8558.

Please make a note that the RSC is not set up to take any used clothes or furniture at this location. The RSC is not a client-based warehouse but is a staging center for supplies that will be shipped or picked up by the affected counties.

Currently needed items include:
Small Kitchen Appliances:
1. Can openers
2. Coffeemakers
3. Toasters
4. Toaster ovens
5. Crock pot
6. Microwave
7. Other Kitchen supplies including cutting boards, small utensils (spatulas, paring knives, serving spoons, etc)

Also needed are:
Brooms, mops, dustpans, paper products (paper towels, napkins), plastic ware, dinnerware, silverware, heavy-duty garbage bags, buckets (5&3 gallon), linens and other bedding including pillows, comforters, blankets, tools including shovels, rakes, hammers, pry bars.

NEW ONLY: underwear and disposal baby diapers, socks for men, women and children, and winter coats/heavy jackets. This facility will not accept any used clothing or furniture.
