Teen Only Projects
These
are projects for teens, by teens!
Children's Game Night at Safe Haven Family Shelter
This project will be held the last Saturday of every month.
Agency:
Nashville Safe Haven Family Shelter
Help
provide homeless families entertainment and relief by playing games and creating
fun arts and craft projects with the children staying at Safe Haven Family
Shelter! This project is open to teen volunteers age 14 and older. All
volunteers under the age of 18 are required to bring a signed
Volunteer Release Form
with them to each project
Sign up now.
Sports Sort
This project will be held the
first Thursday of every month from 4-6pm.
Agency:
Sports 4 All
Foundation
Description:
Sports 4 All is a unique group enabling those with disabilities to be active and
involved in sporting events. The organization helps supply sporting equipment
for people with disabilities, but they need your help!
If you are willing to spend a couple hours once a month, you can help inventory,
photograph, and describe Sports 4 All's donations. This small project can have a
huge impact on the lives of people with disabilities and their ability to access
athletic activities.
This project is open to teen volunteers age 14 and older. All volunteers under
the age of 18 are required to bring a signed
Volunteer
Release Form with them to each
project.
Sign up now.
Helping Hands at Alive Hospice
This project will be held the
third Saturday of every month from 9am-1pm.
Agency:
Alive Hospice, Inc.
Description:
The
Alive Hospice helps people come to terms with one of life's most difficult
inevitabilities: death and the ensuing loss of a loved one. Their staff works
selflessly to comfort those in the later stages of their life; however,
periodically find themselves held back from providing their undivided care by
administrative tasks.
Some diligent youth volunteers are needed to help support the staff and
indirectly the patients they serve by helping prepare admission materials.
Volunteers can expect to be given a tour of the facility, learn about the need
the Alive Hospice serves, and meet a resident or two in addition to assembling
admission booklets.
This project is open to teen volunteers age 13 and older. All volunteers under
the age of 18 are required to bring a signed
Volunteer
Release Form with them to each
project. Sign up now.
Medical Supply Sort with Project C.U.R.E.
Agency:
Project C.U.R.E.
You
can provide significant assistance to developing countries without ever leaving
Nashville! Each hour you spend here as a volunteer can affect the lives of 10
others. With one 3 hour project, you and your fellow volunteers can affect the
lives of hundreds!
Project C.U.R.E. collects new, surplus and overstock medical supplies, sorts the
items, and ships them to countries in need. Project C.U.R.E. ships medical
supplies into almost 100 different countries including North Korea, Cuba, China,
Russia, Vietnam, numerous countries in Africa and South America and nearly every
nation in Central Asia.
Volunteers will work in Project C.U.R.E.'s warehouse to sort medical supplies.
These supplies are unused items remaining in their original packaging. There may
occasionally be a need to move boxes weighing 20-25 pounds. All volunteers
should wear closed toe shoes to this project. This is a great project for teen
groups of friends, clubs, civic or faith organizations. This project is open to
teen volunteers age 16 and older.
Be an Entertainer or Companion
Senior Citizens LOVE teens to come out and interact with them. Wanna perform a skit? Engage
everyone in a song? Play a competitive round of gin rummy? Give a makeover or a
manicure. This is the project for
you! Teens are welcome at many agencies on a flexible schedule. Bring a group
of your friends and see how much fun you can have.
Food Box Preparation
Volunteers are needed to assemble food boxes. Each box of food can feed a Senior
Citizen for 1-2 weeks. Teens will only assemble food boxes and will not be
expected to deliver them.
Youth Volunteer Leadership
Do
you feel you have a unique perspective on some of the issues affecting our

global warming, poverty and food insecurity?

Teen Only Project (TOP) Coordinator:
Hands On Nashville
understands that volunteering can be intimidating for teens, especially if you
think you are going to be the only young person. Therefore, we aim to provide
teens with 2-5 Teen Only Projects each month so that you can volunteer with your
friends and peers. We are currently looking for teens who would like to become
TOP Coordinators. You will be expected to attend a 1 hour training in addition
to co-manage a Teen Only Project. As
a TOP Coordinator you will be expected to lead one project each month (most
likely a reoccurring project). The commitment is only once a month and we can
make sure the projects fit your schedule. So step it up and be the change!
Youth Volunteer Guide
Are you looking for a resource detailing all the agencies and
nonprofit organizations that youth can volunteer for in Nashville? Then check
out the Hands On Nashville
Youth Volunteer Guide for some helpful direction. (This is a
large document so it may take a few minutes to download.)
