MLK Day of Service 2014: Protecting & Serving Our Neighbors

Dr. Martin Luther King famously said, “Everyone can be great, because everybody can serve.” This MLK Day, honor Dr. King’s legacy by joining Hands On Nashville to improve our city’s community centers and to learn how you and your family can safeguard yourselves by taking fire prevention measures. On Saturday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 20, more than 700 Nashville volunteers will come together to complete painting projects and learn basic fire safety skills at 10 Metro Parks community centers.
Hate to paint, but love to help? Join us Saturday morning from 8-9:30 a.m. to prepare the community centers for painting. Volunteers will clean, arrange furniture, tape off walls, and get everything ready for a nice fresh coat of paint.
This event is presented by Hands On Nashville in partnership with Metro Parks and Recreation, the Nashville Fire Department, and Mayor Karl Dean’s Impact Nashville initiative.
