Opportunity Details

Fence Divider and Expansion for Sage & Mafia

Habitat for Paws is a non-profit agency that works to improve the living conditions of dogs living on chains or tethers by building fences for families at no cost.

This project will be to put a dividing fence between the 2 dogs to keep them safe and to expand the fencing already there to give the 2 dogs extra room.

Volunteers secure wire fencing to wood and metal posts and cut and lay ground wire to prevent the dog from digging out. They may also be asked to remove debris from the yard, disassemble kennels, or clear brush. The bulk of the work on a fence build involves twisting wire. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Habitat for Paws provides all volunteers with needle nose pliers to help with twisting the wire. Volunteers may wish to bring their favorite pair of pliers or work gloves. Some volunteers find that a pair of knee-pads or a gardeners' pad can make working at the bottom of the fence more comfortable. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles. Habitat for Paws will provide water and snacks for volunteers.

Do not bring dog treats or your own dog to this project.
