Youth Jam: Saturday Open Gym at Martha O'Bryan Center
Youth Jam is a fun, safe, recreational open-gym and activity space for youth in Cayce Place and the surrounding communities! Activities can include but are not limited to basketball, kickball, volleyball, jump rope, painting, coloring, and board games. Volunteers should be over 18 years old, have a positive attitude, and enjoy working with children. Volunteers will help staff facilitate stations, play games with youth, and assist with crafts. If volunteers have any ideas for games or crafts, our staff is open to hearing them! Youth will be between the ages of 6 and 18. Martha O'Bryan Center is located in Cayce Homes, one of the area's largest housing projects. Community centers in the area close at noon on Saturdays, leaving nowhere else for youth to go. Martha O'Bryan Center will provide children and teens with a safe and fun environment on Saturday afternoons. This volunteer opportunity does require a screening process, including a mandatory volunteer orientation for all volunteers prior to the event. Once you express interest, you will receive a phone call from our volunteer coordinator to talk about the volunteer expectations.
