Application Assistance Workshop
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a program announced by President Obama in 2012 that allows certain undocumented youth to apply for a work permit and temporary protection from deportation.
Conexión Américas, Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), and Justice for Our Neighbors of Tennessee (JFON) host DACA application assistance workshops to assist eligible individuals with the application process.
The success of our workshops relies on our community volunteers! Volunteers are needed to help applicants complete the application and compile the necessary documents before the applicant meets with a pro bono attorney on site.
***Volunteers will receive training the day of the workshop, and will be supervised by an immigration attorney.***
Attorneys and trained staff will be available to answer any questions
Spanish language skills may be helpful, but are not required.
Description of Volunteer Duties:
• Attend volunteer training on DACA application assistance immediately prior to the workshop
• Help applicants collect and organize documents needed for DACA application
• Help applicants fill out a DACA application
• Assist staff in event logistics and breakdown at the end of the event
