YVC: 50K Tree Day
Hands On Nashville's Youth Volunteer Corps is taking part in 50K Tree Day 2016! Our volunteers will help the Cumberland River Compact build riparian buffer zones along Pennington Bend Road - an area that flooded badly in 2010. On 50K Tree Day, volunteers across Tennessee will work together to plant 50,000 native tree seedlings in a single day! Take part in a statewide effort that helps to restore degraded environments across the state, while building a sense of positive community involvement in caring for our environment. Volunteers will be working outdoors, and must wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Tools will be provided, but bring your own water bottle. Please note: Registration for this opportunity closes at the end of the day on Monday, February 15th - sign up today! This project is open to youth volunteers ages 14 to 18. All youth volunteers are required to have a Volunteer Liability Release Form on file prior to attending a HON Youth Volunteer Corps project. Please note: this form must only be completed one time, and will be kept on file by Hands On Nashville for future projects. When completing the form, a parent must be present to provide an e-signature.
