ESL Instructor - Antioch
Immigrants and Refugees attend ESL classes to reach their long term goals. Many students are in this class to get a better job, enroll in higher education, and get involved in their children’s education. The ESL Teacher plays a vital role in supporting immigrants and refugees in learning about American culture and education.
DUTIES INCLUDE:

- Observe ESL Class prior to volunteering
- Attend volunteer orientation and training
- Reviewing weekly lesson plans provided by the ESL Coordinator
- Execute lesson based off of lesson plan and activities provided for designated level
- The ESL Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and there is a 6 week commitment to teaching.
- Volunteers cannot miss more than 1 out of the 6 week volunteer commitment so as to ensure an excellent education experience for students. If the volunteer knows that on Tuesday he/she will have a workplace or personal interference that could cause multiple absences or tardiness please immediately contact the ESL Coordinator.
- The teacher/facilitator does not need to know a second language to volunteer.
