Hospital Accompaniment Program Orientation
Would you like to be an advocate for survivors of sexual assault? This is your chance to make a difference by supporting survivors while they are in the hospital.
The Sexual Assault Center's Hospital Accompaniment Program (H.A.P.) is an opportunity for community members to be trained as volunteer advocates and provide immediate crisis intervention services to survivors of sexual assault at Metro General Hospital. Volunteer H.A.P. advocates are a valuable addition to the advocacy services currently being provided to survivors by the Davidson County Sexual Assault Response Team. It is the Sexual Assault Center's mission to provide healing for children, adults and families affected by sexual assault and to end sexual violence through counseling, education and advocacy.
To become an advocate with the Hospital Accompaniment Program, volunteers must successfully complete the following requirements and provide the below listed documents:
1. Attend 22 hours of training (attendance at all training dates, shown below, is mandatory);
2. TBI Fingerprint Background Check;
3. Documentation indicating the following tests and/or vaccinations are current: Current PPD (TB Skin Test), Rubella Immunity, and Vericella (chickenpox);
4. Copies of professional licenses, if applicable;
5. List of all states lived in (residency not required); and
6. Complete a volunteer application and interview.
Volunteers will be required to sign up for a minimum of two 6-hour shifts per month.
