Komen Waterway Restoration: Tree Planting

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Nashville is partnering with local organizations to purchase and plant Red-bud trees as part of the countywide effort to restore creeks, streams, and rivers to pre-flood conditions or better. The trees were bought by Race for the Cure participants in honor or memory of loved ones who have battled breast cancer. This workday is being held to plant the trees. Please dress warmly and come ready to get a little dirty! The day will be topped off with a dedication ceremony at 11:00am. The ceremony will include the name of the survivor in recognition or in memoriam.

 
      Groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up. This is a perfect team-building opportunity!


·         NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! All work is supervised by a Project Leader, and all equipment and materials are provided!

·         Volunteers will work together to plant trees in the riparian zone. Expect to be walking through tall grass and bushes.

·         Volunteers should wear work clothes that can get dirty. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

·         Closed-toe shoes are required. Work boots, hiking boots, or old sneakers are great. No flip flops or sandals.

·         Be prepared to have fun and learn about watersheds in Davidson County!
