The fourth annual Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Kids’ Fun Run is Sunday, Nov. 9, starting at Public Square Park outside the Metro Courthouse. Activities start at noon. The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 2 p.m. The 5K begins at 2:15 p.m. Participation is completely free and individuals of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join. Volunteers will assist with event setup and teardown, answering participant questions and giving directions at the Information Tent, acting as route guides, and other duties as assigned.

Over 5,000 Nashvillians “stepped up to the challenge” in each of the last three years by participating in the Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run – the city’s only free 5K event with a free training program offered through Metro Parks & Recreation. As Mayor Dean’s most popular health event to date, the Mayor’s Challenge 5K brings out Nashvillians of all ages and fitness levels to walk and run the streets of downtown Nashville.
