Volunteer in a local classroom with JA in a Day!
At Junior Achievement, we give young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.
We are looking for 14 volunteers to lead fun and engaging activities with 4th graders at Paragon Mills Elementary School on November 20th, 2014. One or two volunteers will be assigned to each classroom.
With JA in a Day, volunteers spend a day leading Junior Achievement’s fun, interactive programming to help connect what the students are learning in school with the real world. JA in a Day provides an opportunity for Middle Tennessesans to give back to their community, share their personal and professional experiences with students, and make an impact on a child’s life.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Attend a 1-2 hour on-site training 1-2 weeks prior to the event and receive all materials needed to teach the Junior Achievement class.
- Spend 2-3 hours preparing the lessons in the assigned JA program prior to the scheduled JA in a Day event.
- If desired, teaching responsibilities can be shared with a partner.
- Arrive at the school on the scheduled day and time to lead the JA program; event times vary but typically run from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
