Diabetes Walk

Floaters/Greeters/Cheer Team  (6:00 am- 11:00 am)
Willing to assist in any area as needed:
•set up
•greet and talk with walkers/attendees while in registration line
•cheer for walkers at start line (9:30 am) and finish line.
•food runners
•trash patrol - remove and replace trash bags as needed
•box bundlers
•any unforeseen needs which come up. There are many unforeseen situations that arise on Step Out day and volunteers need to be available. There may be some idle time in this position, but it is an important one.

Food & Beverage Tent (6:30 am-11:00 am) 
•Prepare food such as slicing bagels, placing food on serving platters, and assembling      snack boxes
•Set up cold drink area with large containers filled with ice, water and drinks
•Keep supplies replenished and the area in a tidy order as well as cleaning up leftovers  etc.

Registration & T-Shirts (7 am-10 am)
Registration:
• 
Check-in:  This volunteer assignment is fast paced but you will be primarily sitting. 
• Check-in/register all walkers before the start of Step Out. 
• Volunteers need to be able to handle a fast paced environment, answer walker questions, and follow directions.  
 Volunteers will be trained approximately 30 minutes prior to Check-in start time (check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. and Step Out program will begin at 9:00 a.m.)
 
T-shirt Distribution:  
   Give qualified walkers a t-shirt in a courteous manner.
   Assist with the unpacking of t-shirts and packing up of any t-shirts not distributed. 
•   Keep area tidy and empty boxes dumped in the dumpster.

Red Strider and Champion Tents (7:30 am - 11:30 am)
Red Striders are walkers who have Diabetes and we want to recognize and give them special attention.
Champions are walkers who have raised $1,000+ for this fundraising event and we give them special recognition
• Give out gifts and special T-shirts to red striders and champions
• Answer questions
• Let them know they are special to us.


Rest Stop and Route (7:30 am - 11:30 am)
-Route set up:
•Set up signs, markers along walking route 
• Take down signs along route
• Break down rest stop 
• Return all items to proper places for removal from site 

-Rest stop:
•Set up tables and chairs
•Put ice and water into drink tub
•Set-up trash box with liner
•Pass out water to passing walkers
•Cheer on walkers as they pass your Water Stop
•Decorate your own Water Stop! Get creative and have fun!! 
Clean up
 

Kids Zone & Jump House (8:00 am - 12:00 pm)
 Watch children for safety 
 Engage with children's activities
 Be a FacePainter
 Engage in other activities such as coloring.

Site Tear Down & Load Trucks (11:00 am - 3:00 pm)
•Assist in securing the Step Out site back to its original state. 
•Everything that was put up now has to come down
•All equipment and Step Out materials must be packed up and loaded on trucks
•All of the tables and chairs have to be taken down and stacked for the movers to pick-up
•Help unload truck at storage unit and/or ADA office
