Tutoring
At Park Center, our mission is to empower people who have mental illness and substance use disorders to live and work in their communities. We’re proud to be a part of the Nashville community since 1984.
Our Psychiatric Rehabilitation Day Program, is searching for individuals interested in reading, math, and GED prep. We at Park Center are looking for dedicated volunteers with a passion for working with individuals that have been diagnosed with a mental illness. Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00-1:00 pm.
As a volunteer you would be matched with one or more Park Center Members for individual or small group tutoring in 30 minute increments. Tutoring is a weekly committment and consistency is the most important feature we are looking for in a volunteer. A six-month committment is required.
The volunteer process includes the completion of an application; an interview; a background check; a signed confidentiality agreement, and HIPAA training; a tour of the facility where the volunteer has been placed; and a one-hour orientation.
If you have a desire to help fight the stigma of mental illnes while assisting in the recovery of our members through your time and generosity, please consider volunteering with us! We look forward to hearing from you!
