Global Youth Service Day 2014
April 12, 2014
Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is a day in which millions of youth around the world volunteer to meet important community needs. It is celebrated in over 100 countries.
To commemorate GYSD in Middle Tennessee, Hands On Nashville is partnering with Starbucks for a third year! Together, we’ll continue developing Hands On Nashville’s Urban Farm, which engages the community in growing food that is used in programming to give youth the opportunity to harvest, prepare, and taste healthy foods. We will also partner with 11 gardens around the city to get them ready for the spring planting season. This effort is part of Starbucks Global Month of Service.
Join us for a fun day of gardening, and take home some tips of your own! Our goal is to engage 350 youth and adult volunteers. Tasks will include planting summer crops and flowers, creating walking paths, and harvesting spring crops. All activities will be led by specially trained Youth Volunteer Corps Interns and Starbucks volunteer leaders.
