Landscapers Needed for Mowing
Do you have access to commercial mowing equipment and the ability to donate 2 - 4 hours of your team's time helping the community? Would you enjoy supporting a project that will directly impact thousands of school aged students this year? If so, look no further than GROW!
At GROW, we are building the city’s first permaculture park space. This means we are creating an urban farming space where woodlands are maximized and food systems are integrated throughout the space we manage. It’s also our goal to demonstrate sustainable urban food cultivation practices that maximize space, improve soils, and conserve resources such as water.
While we have a good handle on the gardening aspects of the project, we lack the equipment to manage open grassy areas throughout the summer months. Of the almost 14 acres we manage, roughly 6-7 is open field space. All of it is sloped, ranging from moderate to severe slope. We are sending out an SOS to the community regarding grass maintenance!
Here are specifics of what we need done at each visit:
Your Impact
The GROW project not only benefits park visitors, they also function as an intensive ecology classroom for area students from April – October each year. Some of the groups who’ll benefit from your volunteerism include homeschoolers, elementary students who come for science field trips, students who attend GROW’s conservation-themed summer day camp, and scout troops who come to work on merit badges and volunteer. In time, this site will also provide a large quantity of food to meet the needs of those less fortunate in our community.
On behalf of all of these students, we want to thank you for giving of your time to create this unique “community classroom” to inspire a love of nature in the next generation!
