Compost with The Nashville Food Project - Long Term
Skip your morning workout and do service with us instead! We are looking for regular help in our garden, turning food waste into “compost gold”. Composting keeps our kitchen waste out of the landfill and has a positive impact on the environment. With your attention to our compost, you help us develop rich soil that nourishes our urban gardens. You’ll also gain knowledge of what it takes to produce hundreds of pounds of finished compost, work in the beautiful outdoors and get a bit of exercise! The composter position requires only 1-2 hours/week.
You can expect to turn compost from one bin to another, sometimes adding more hay or leaves as needed. This process keeps the compost breaking down quickly.
Every day, The Nashville Food Project brings people together to grow, cook, and share nourishing food with the goals of alleviating hunger and cultivating community in our city. Caring for our compost provides a unique outdoor opportunity that also benefits the environment!
Participants will have access to an All Gender/ADA accessible restrooms during their service experience.
