Volunteer Medicare Counselor Training Workshops - July
Do you enjoy working with older adults or people with disabilities? Would you like to help people save money on their prescription and health care cost? Would you enjoy helping others navigate their way through the Medicare enrollment process?
If that is you, then this FREE training is right for you.
The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is part of a national network of State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP). GNRC counselors provide free, confidential, unbiased information to Medicare beneficiaries, their representatives, and those who will soon be eligible for Medicare. In the training you will learn how to provide counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and their families, and be able to help them feel confident about their health insurance decisions. We will cover all of the parts of Medicare, supplement plans, drug plans, along with low income assistance programs that help with the cost of Medicare as well as the application process for each of them. We will discuss how to prevent and report Medicare fraud and abuse and discuss counseling and presenting strategies.
Once you have completed the training you will be certified to counsel beneficiaries on their Medicare options and able to help beneficiaries during Medicare Open Enrollment from October through December each year. To start your journey as a SHIP volunteer you will shadow other certified volunteers or staff members until you feel completely confident and comfortable to provide counseling on your own.
Training will be help on July 13 & 20, 2019 from 9:00am to 4:00pm each day
To receive the full counseling certification volunteers must attend both training days.

Please note: All Volunteer Medicare Counselors are certified to give free, unbiased information to beneficiaries and their families so they can make educated decisions about their health care options. In order to meet this standard, we are unable to award certification to anyone that is employed by and insurance agency, company or service, or is in a position to sell insurance products.
