Wheelchair Escort
We are looking for bright cheery, physically active volunteers to help push residents that are wheelchair bound to chapel services every Sunday and Wednesday morning at 10am. This volunteer service is a great opportunity to enrich the lives of elderly residents and build meaningful one-on-one relationships while assisting them to their chapel destination.
Volunteer Timeline
10:00 – Arrive and assist residents from their rooms to the service
10:30 – Service begins
11:00 – Service ends, assist residents back to their rooms
The entire volunteer time would be from approximately 10:00 to 11:30.
Please arrive with comfortable shoes (no open-toed sandals).
Come prepared to walk. The distance from the resident’s rooms to the chapel is approximately 100 yards. Volunteers are also expected to dress neatly (no t-shirts and jeans) and to treat residents with respect and dignity. Each room is a living space for a resident so please knock before entering and NEVER share any residents medical or personal information. It is also not allowed to take any photos of residents in the Health Center.

Our purpose is to advance the mission and objectives of McKendree Village and make life more pleasant for the residents through additional services designed to promote renewed spirit and interest in life.
