Oyster Easter Planning Committee

It's time to get Oyster Easter 2021 started and we are looking for some amazing Young Professionals who would love to sit on the Planning Committee for this year's event.  You might have a few questions about what Oyster Easter is, who it benefits, etc... so here are all our best questions and answers to help you decide if you want to be a part of this event.

Q. How old do I have to be?
        A. At least 21 years old.  This is a fundraiser that includes lots of boozy drink choices so we ask that all volunteers and attendees be over 21 years old.

Q. What the heck is Oyster Easter?
        A. Oyster Easter is a fundraiser for the Community Resource Center.  It started in 1962 by some Vanderbilt University students and we have carried the torch since.  It is held on the Saturday before Easter and features a HUGE oyster bar and Cajun feast plus dancing, silent auction and some wild and crazy characters!

Q. What do Committee Members do?
        A.  Along side our staff, the Committee Members help plan and organize the event, encourage their friends to buy tickets & donate auction items, help us sell sponsorships and so much more.  You will have the opportunity to find the committee position that best represents your skills.  So if you love decorating and balloons -- we will task you with helping decorate.  If you don't cringe asking for donations -- you probably would be well suited on the Silent Auction committee or Sponsorship committee.

Q. How much time will I spend on this event?
       A. Well that is kind of up to you and the participation would you like to have.  We ask that everyone put in the amount of hours to make this event as successful as possible.  Every dollar raised helps the Community Resource Center purchase much needed basic essentials like shampoo, soap, diapers, razors, toothbrushes, and toothpaste...just to name a few items.  Some positions are more time sensitive around the set up of the event, while other positions are more concentrated during the planning stages.  Either way we respect the time that our volunteers give us and work with their schedules to make it the best possible outcome for both our organization, as well as you!

So if you are interested in helping the Community Resource Center plan one of the best parties in the city... then let us know you are interested and we will get you connected to the committee and you all can get started!
