Group Volunteers (5-20 members) for Deep-Cleaning & Storage Organization

YWCA relies on groups of volunteers to perform some unglamorous, but extremely important tasks at our Weaver Domestic Violence Center, such as deep-cleaning, storage organization, light maintenance, and grounds-keeping chores. Occasionally we enlist groups of volunteers to help us undertake special projects that pop-up, such as gardening, painting, and seasonal program support. When volunteers come together to tackle those important tasks it affirms our commitment of care to our residents, and allows our staff to focus fully on the folks we serve.

We typically host small groups (between 5 and 20 members) on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings (9am-noon) or afternoons (1pm-4pm). We ask groups to provide a couple of date options at least a month in advance so we can determine a schedule that works well for everyone. No formal training is required of our small group members prior to a project, but we will conduct a brief orientation on-site and have everyone sign a mandatory confidentiality agreement. Due to the nature of our business, we keep location of Weaver Center confidential until just days before your group is set to arrive. At that time, the designated group leader will be provided with instructions and directions.

We also welcome group support in the form of donation drives to help support our programs. We publish a donations “wish list” on our website so folks can be aware of our current needs. We can help you with the specifics of a donation drive if this is seems like a good fit for your group.
