Thanksgiving and Christmas Meal Delivery

If you have a couple hours of free time on Thanksgiving or Christmas morning, would you consider helping us deliver 500 hot meals to our clients? Meal delivery is important now more than ever, as we’ve seen nutrition needs quadruple for our clients during the pandemic. For anyone living with, or at risk for, HIV/AIDS, Nashville CARES is the premier HIV/AIDS agency in the region. We provide comprehensive education, a broad range of targeted services and effective advocacy, all in a highly personal, confidential and compassionate manner.

Delivery drivers will be picking up routes and hot meals to deliver to 1-4 client homes (all in a similar area). You need to pick up your meals and route information from between 10am-10:45am at FiftyForward. It should take no more than 2 hours to deliver the meals.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, friends or anyone looking to give back during the holidays.

A note about COVID: this volunteer role is very well set-up for physical distancing and low-contact volunteering, especially since it mostly takes place outside. Which is great, since we serve clients who are immunocompromised. That being said, we will be:
  • requiring mask wearing, both with the distribution and delivery volunteers.
  • encouraging hand hygiene practices (we’ll have hand sanitizer available).
  • sending out extra safety guidelines on how to drop off the food safely: will be provided beforehand via email and as a handout upon food pick-up.
Please Sign-Up below (NOTE: ONLY THE DRIVER IS REQUIRED TO SIGN-UP) and you'll receive an email with more information!

Hands On Nashville (HON) encourages all volunteers follow CDC guidelines by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask indoors, including at service opportunities.

However, this project is led by our partner organization, and they will determine COVID safety measures at the event. If you have questions, please reach out to the opportunity coordinator listed below.

If you feel unsafe at a volunteer project, please reach out to hon@hon.org or share your feedback in our post-service survey. Your feedback is invaluable – it will be shared with our partners and used to inform future policy decisions.
