Opportunity Details
Weed Wrangle at Bowie Nature Park
Bowie Nature Park is a city park that is just under 700 acres and is relatively pristine in many areas. Evangeline Bowie gave this unique piece of land to the City of Fairview in December 1988. Prior to doing so, she spent several decades rehabbing and shaping the land to make it the beautiful collection of ecosystems that it is today. In order to continue to protect her legacy, we plan to rid the property of invasive species little by little. Any time we rid an area of invasive plant life, this park gets that much closure to returning to the beautiful and healthy land it should be.
Volunteers will:
Remove invasive plants like vine honeysuckle and privet
Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle. Bring tools if you have them.
Weed Wrangle®-Nashville volunteers will learn, practice, and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of invasive plants. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive plant population in the Nashville area.
