Model Train Conductor
At Adventure Science Center, our mission is to open every mind to the wonders of science and technology, fostering a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us. In order to do this, we need volunteers for our trains exhibit!
Volunteering with us in the trains exhibit means you will be in charge of the model trains on our exhibit floor. Every hour you're here, trains need to be rotated out and cleaned to make sure they can last through the holiday season. We will teach you everything you need to know about the cleaning and upkeep when you arrive, so no experience is necessary.
Physical Requirements: This position requires a fair amount of bending over and the ability to climb over a 3-foot railing.
Available shifts: Shifts are available every day the museum is open, Thursday - Monday.
Remember: all volunteers are required to wear a mask while they are in the facility. You will be working with up to one other person, so maintaining the 6-feet social distancing requirement will be a breeze.

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, Hands On Nashville recommends the following guidelines for volunteering:
Individuals belonging to the following groups should not volunteer for in-person opportunities: ages 65 and up, those with elevated health risk or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).
Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.
If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!
