Front Door Greeter

Do you love animals? Well we do too, so come join us!

Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control (MACC) is the only open intake animal shelter in Davidson County. We intake hundreds of animals each month and run a vibrant foster and adoption program.

Due to COVID concerns MACC has been forced to move to appointments only, while remaining open. This front door greeter will help direct visitors to the right part of the shelter, our clinic, or animal intake or pick-up and enable shelter staff to continue doing their lifesaving work.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
  • Greet all visitors and help create a pleasant atmosphere
  • Help main best health practices for all visitors (i.e., 6 feet of separation and masks)
  • Outstanding customer service

Volunteers Should:
  • Be comfortable using a radio to reach staff
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Wear comfortable attire

During Covid we are all concerned with keeping everyone save. All sanitary supplies will be provided for the volunteer (including masks), and the door they will be seated at is inside the building behind a six foot barrier that keeps people at a distance.

Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control is currently working weekly shifts. If you wish to volunteer more than once, anyone on a shift SUN MON OR TUE cannot be on a shift WED THUR FRI SAT and vice versa, in the same one week span.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, Hands On Nashville recommends the following guidelines for volunteering:

Individuals belonging to the following groups should not volunteer for in-person opportunities: ages 65 and up, those with elevated health risk or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).

Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.

If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!

Please be aware that your project may be canceled with short notice. Projects are subject to change depending on shifting guidelines and circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
