Volunteer Driver Training #VirtualVolunteering

Senior Ride Nashville is expanding the volunteer driver team! Drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to community centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops and more. Help a senior get where they need to go while making a friend in the process! Volunteer shifts are flexible and scheduled at your convenience using an easy online tool. Join us for an upcoming online volunteer training class and get out on the road soon!
It is Senior Ride Nashville’s mission to improve the quality of life for older adults residing in Davidson County by providing courteous and safe door-through-door volunteer transportation to those eligible for service, enabling them to obtain essential services, maintain their health and well-being, and actively engage in community life.
Hear what some of our riders have to say:
“I love SRN because it’s about more than just the ride, it’s about connecting with others.”
“What a blessing! What wonderful people! Senior Ride gives me an opportunity to go to the grocery stores, go shopping, etc. without bothering my family. These volunteers are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met.”
“Since I cannot drive, I lost some of my independence. Senior Ride has made it possible for me to regain my independence with transportation in going to doctors, therapy, and errands.”
“I was skeptical and reluctant to sign up for this help. However, now I am amazed and very thankful for this help. I’ve never met people who were more helpful, kind and professional. What a blessing this service has been for me."

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, Hands On Nashville recommends the following guidelines for volunteering:

  • Individuals belonging to the following groups should not volunteer for in-person opportunities: ages 65 and up, those with elevated health risk or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).

  • Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.

If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!

Please be aware that your project may be canceled with short notice. Projects are subject to change depending on shifting guidelines and circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
