Administrative Volunteer
Did you know that The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with 2.2 million incarcerated individuals? 95% of those incarcerated will be released, and many will face barriers to reentry, such as finding safe living quarters, discrimination in employment, lack of transportation, finding adequate treatment for substance abuse, mental illness, and medical needs.
For over 40 years, Dismas House of Nashville has served as a beacon of hope for formerly incarcerated desperately looking for a second chance. To date, we have served more than 1,000 formerly incarcerated. Compared to the recidivism rate in Tennessee of nearly 50%, residents who complete the Dismas program have a 19% rate of return and are therefore far less likely to return to prison.
If you have basic administrative skills and want to help with our mission, then sign up to be an administrative volunteer! No need to worry about previous experience, as we will train you on your specific tasks.
Duties for this volunteer position may include
- Attending to the front desk
- Filing, shredding, scanning or copying
- Data entry
- Making follow up phone calls
- Assisting with mail out campaigns
- Completing simple office tasks on the computer
- Compiling research
- Answering phones
- Sorting & Organizing Donations
Volunteers must be 18 years old and complete an initial training, as well as sign all required documents. An all-star volunteer will be able to complete their assigned tasks with an eye for detail, be courteous and professional when interacting with staff, volunteers, and clients, and have the ability to operate basic office programs and equipment.
This is a great opportunity for college student’s about to enter the workforce, those who have left the workforce and just want to give back, and everyone in between!
