Help stop COVID-19 by providing traffic support at Murfreesboro Pike DriveThru

 
Volunteers are urgently needed to help direct traffic at the Metro Nashville's Community Assessment Center for drive-through COVID-19 testing at Murfreesboro Pike. Volunteers support healthcare employees working to provide free COVID-19 testing to Middle Tennesseans.  
   
PPE masks and gloves will be provided, and face shields and aprons are available upon request.   
   
Volunteers will help direct cars through the center and will NOT be required to interact with visitors.   
   
No skills are necessary to participate. Training and orientation will be provided on site.     
   
Please bring a snack and wear comfortable shoes, clothes, sunscreen and a hat, as you may be outdoors and on your feet for long periods of time. Lunch and water will be provided.     
     
Additional information:     
  • No smoking on site     
  • Volunteers will be expected to present themselves in a professional manner     
  • Due to the sensitive nature of these opportunities, they are only appropriate for volunteers 21 years of age and older      
  • Anyone volunteering will need to present a photo ID fill out a liability waiver upon check-in  
Volunteers for the Meharry Operated Drive-Through Community Assessment Testing Centers will not be offered COVID-19 vaccine shots. 
 
Although volunteers will not be in a direct testing environment with patients, please note: this opportunity is not recommended for anyone who is at higher risk for severe disease from COVID-19 nor those who regularly care for those at higher risk; additionally, volunteers who have experienced or live with anyone who has shown signs of respiratory illness should not participate. If you have returned from travel to a country that is under a Level 3 Travel Health Notice within the last 14 days, please do not register to volunteer.     
   
On occasion this site also has need for translator, primarily Spanish but all any are helpful. Translating will NOT be your primary on-site responsibility (see above for that) as it’s unknown when/if you'll be needed. If you are interested in the above volunteer experience, but have this skill set, please identify yourself that day at volunteer check-in so that personnel can come find you if needed.

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville:       
  • Hands On Nashville recommends that unvaccinated individuals in the following groups avoid volunteering for in-person opportunities (due to elevated risk level): ages 65 and up, those with health conditions or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).        
  • Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.        
       
If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!
