Small Debris Removal #NashvilleTornado

Hands On Nashville is in need of volunteers to tackle several small debris cleanup projects from both the March 3 Tornado and May 4 storm. Volunteers will meet the team leaders at a central location and caravan together to previously identified homes who still need downed trees cut up and moved to the street.

You MUST have a car or carpool with another volunteer. We will be traveling to several different locations as part of the project.

Staff will be equipped with chainsaws and will do all necessary cutting. Volunteers are needed primarily for cleaning and hauling the debris. You may bring your own chainsaw if you have it and wish to participate in the cutting. We will provide work gloves and safety glasses for everyone.

This project involves significant manual labor.

This project will take place in: North Nashville, East Nashville, and possibly Donelson.

Face masks will be mandatory for this project. Please feel free to bring your own if you wish, otherwise Hands On Nashville can provide if needed.

Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring your own water, sunscreen, and snacks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, Hands On Nashville recommends the following guidelines for volunteering:
  • Individuals belonging to the following groups should not volunteer for in-person opportunities: ages 65 and up, those with elevated health risk or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).
  • Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.
If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!
Please be aware that your project may be canceled with short notice. Projects are subject to change depending on shifting guidelines and circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
