Driving Canvass of Homes Affected by March 2021 Flood #NashvilleFlooding

Volunteers are needed to drive to homes to check in with those affected by the March 2021 flood and gather information for agencies that can support them.

Volunteers will be sent their canvassing locations 24 hours before this volunteer event. Volunteers will gather for socially distanced training (approx. 15 minutes) and then will fan out into neighborhoods to drive around, knock on doors, speak to survivors, and collect information on their phones. Volunteers will go out in caravan teams and will never be alone with a homeowner.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes. You can bring your own masks, and we'll also have some available. Canvassing will take place rain or shine.

IMPORTANT: Due to the Delta variant and increased spread of COVID-19, even among vaccinated populations, we are again changing our mask policy for projects, effective immediately. This is in accordance with the latest CDC guidance.
  • At every project Hands On Nashville will provide masks and hand sanitizer for all volunteers to use.
  • When volunteers are signing in for a project, Hands On Nashville will provide a list of COVID symptoms for volunteers to check. If any volunteer self-reports experiencing those symptoms in the past two weeks we will ask them to leave the project.
  • For outdoor projects where social distancing is possible (6 feet between volunteers from different households), volunteers are not required to wear masks.
  • For projects taking place indoors, or any portion of a project taking place indoors, all volunteers, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask.

We hope you will join us.

Hands On Nashville (HON) encourages all volunteers follow CDC guidelines by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask indoors, including at service opportunities.

However, this project is led by our partner organization, and they will determine COVID safety measures at the event. If you have questions, please reach out to the opportunity coordinator listed below.

If you feel unsafe at a volunteer project, please reach out to hon@hon.org or share your feedback in our post-service survey. Your feedback is invaluable – it will be shared with our partners and used to inform future policy decisions.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
