Weed Wrangle at Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary

A one-day Weed Wrangle to pull invasive plants and pile them for off-trail removal. This will help support a healthy habitat for our native plants.

Meet at 8:30 am outside the Visitor's Center to gather tools and head to the work site, where we will pull invasive Amur Honeysuckle, Chinese Privet, and Multiflora Rose.  Volunteers will use brush pullers and loppers. The work area will have uneven terrain with rocks and roots.  Thorns and irritating plants (poison ivy) may be present.  Volunteers should be able to walk on unpaved surfaces, bend and stoop, and lift 15-25 lbs.  We will carry brush pulling tools to the work site, about a quarter-mile away, and the tools weight around 10-15 lbs.

Volunteers should bring their own work gloves and a refillable water bottle.  There will be some work gloves for those who do not have their own.  Pizza lunch with be provided!  Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes, and it is strongly suggested that they wear long pants and have long sleeves.  Please dress in layers appropriate for the weather (hat, gloves, waterproof shoes).
