Weed Wrangle at Two Rivers Regional Park with GROW Enrichment

Join GROW Enrichment and Spokesgoat Milo at Two Rivers Park for a Weed Wrangle. With your help, we can keep our parks diverse and thriving!

Activities include:
  • Removing invasive plants like bush honeysuckle, privet, and Euonymus (winter creeper vine)
  • Pulling down vines from trees and off of the forest floor
  • Cutting plants down with loppers and saws
  • Dragging plants away from the forest to be put through a chipper
  • Redistributing mulch to nearby trails
For Weed Wrangle we will enjoy being outside on an early spring day, so please dress in layers appropriate for the weather (hat, gloves, waterproof shoes).  Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes, and it is strongly suggested that they wear long pants and have long sleeves.  We will provide tools, but please bring your own Whoppers with your name on it. There will be work gloves for those who do not have their own. Volunteers should bring a water bottle and any snacks that they might want.

GROW Enrichment seeks to increase sustainable land use in the urban setting. At Two Rivers Park, we are applying permaculture methodology to engage the public in the process of restoring an urban green space. Our goal is to engage people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities as we teach restorative land management through hands-on experiences. Our volunteers are vital to our efforts related to invasive plant control and agroforestry, and with their help we have planted over 700 trees on the property and recently rescued over 500 oak trees for reforestation efforts around Tennessee.

Weed Wrangle®-Nashville volunteers will learn, practice, and begin the habit of maintaining an area free of invasive plants. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive plant population in the Nashville area.

Weed Wrangle® is a city and state-wide volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines and flowering plants.
