Weed Wrangle at Sevier Park with Lipscomb Sustainability & TN Women in Green

Lipscomb University’s Institute for Sustainable Practice and Tennessee Women in Green is hosting a Weed Wrangle at Sevier Park.  This is a great opportunity to participate in a tiny forest Weed Wrangle for future native tree restoration.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to help remove invasive plants along with vegetation and debris that harbors invasive plant growth.  Weed Wrangle®-Nashville volunteers will learn, practice, and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of invasive plants and how to restore a native riparian stream buffer that is protected by a unique, precedent setting, metro Nashville ordinance. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive and native plant population in the Nashville area.

Volunteers should wear comfortable long sleeves and pants and durable closed-toe shoes or boots.  Volunteers should bring a mask (if you are concerned about allergies or COVID), water, and any snacks desired.  If volunteers have gloves (we will have extras available), weed wrenches, hand/pruning saws, or other tools that they would like to use, they are welcome to bring them (but it is not required).  Come ready to get a little dirty, learn, and have fun!

Weed Wrangle®, is a one-day, citywide, volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines and flowering plants.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
