United We Read - Literacy Days of Action

United Way of Greater Nashville 2024 Days of Action United We Read
We invite you to join us as we share the gift of reading and support families in growing their access to books.
The act of reading with a child is a loving one. When a child is read to, it allows them to learn about the world, expand their vocabulary, build their brain, and most importantly, allows them to feel loved.
Participating reading centers were specially selected based on several important factors. In certain zip codes, less than 50% of children who are eligible are enrolled in Imagination Library AND the average median income is less than $50,000 annually. We know that families in living below this threshold often struggle to afford the basics.
By participating in United We Read as a volunteer, you will bring the gift of reading out into the community, by being able to read to class rooms at selected child care centers.
Onsite volunteers will help register families for Imagination Library, a program dedicated to building community partnerships and ensuring that every child birth to 5 has access to high quality, age appropriate books every month.
Volunteers will also help serve breakfast for students, staff, and their families.
Please consider volunteering at one of the centers during the first week of April.
