Opportunity Details
50K Tree Day
Hands On Nashville is taking part in 50K Tree Day 2016! Our volunteers will help the Cumberland River Compact build riparian buffer zones along Pennington Bend Road - an area that flooded badly in 2010. On 50K Tree Day, volunteers across Tennessee will work together to plant 50,000 native tree seedlings in a single day! Take part in a statewide effort that helps to restore degraded environments across the state, while building a sense of positive community involvement in caring for our environment. Trees help reducce pollution by filtering stormwater runof before it reaches our beautiful streams. By keeping our rivers and streams clean, we are ensuring clean drinking water and safe water recreation. Volunteers will be working outdoors, and must wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Tools will be provided, but bring your own water bottle.
