Opportunity Details

Weed Wrangle at Belle Forest Cave & Arboretum with TennGreen Land Conservancy

TennGreen Land Conservancy will host a one-day Weed Wrangle to pull invasive species at Belle Forest Cave & Arboretum. Volunteers will use shovels, loppers, hand saws, pick axes, and weed wrenches to manually remove invasive plants from the forest. Volunteers will be asked to sign a liability waiver and photo release form before the event begins. Volunteers will be using tools, some with sharp blades. Safety precautions should be taken.

TennGreen Land Conservancy is the oldest accredited statewide land trust in Tennessee. TennGreen's mission is to conserve land where people and nature can thrive. The Weed Wrangle event will help decrease the spread of invasive non-native species and provide support for native plants to thrive.

  • Gloves and tools will be provided. Volunteers are free to bring their own heavy gloves and tools if they'd like.
  • Please wear appropriate gardening and weed-pulling attire, including long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and dress in layers appropriate to the temperature.
  • Please bring any personal supplies you might want, such as a water bottle and a snack. We will not provide plastic water bottles but will have a water cooler to refill your containers.
  • Restrooms are not available on-site.

Due to limited parking, attendees will meet TennGreen at Five Guys Restaurant  (7026 Hwy 70 S, Nashville, TN 37221), and we will carpool to our location, which is a two-minute drive.

Weed Wrangle® is an ongoing, city-wide volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines and flowering plants.
