Tennessee Coaches vs. Cancer Event Day Volunteer

The Coaches vs Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised nearly $100 million for the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society’s Nashville Coaches vs. Cancer Tennessee Tip-off Reception boosts enthusiasm for the upcoming season, shares team predictions, and recognizes and cultivates relationships with the team's supporters. Guests will enjoy drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a unique experience to meet the coaches, and an evening of basketball banter; all while raising funds to support the American Cancer Society’s life-saving mission.
 
Some of our volunteer duties include:
Registration Attendant
Description: Checking in guests, assisting walk-up guests through the complete registration process, answering questions, and reporting on updates.
Qualifications: A fun upbeat attitude with a winning smile, and strong organizational skills.
 
Silent Auction Attendant
Description: Set-up of silent auction packages, decorate silent auction tables, assisting bidders, answering questions, helping others to make exciting purchases, and reporting on bidding status. Assisting check-out with purchases.
Qualifications: A love of decorating and helping others to exciting purchases.
 
Activities Attendant
Description: Presiding over games, checking in guests to participate, and set-up of gaming area
Qualifications: An ability to excite and support a small crowd of competitors while keeping track of scores and participation.
 
Greeter
Description: Description: Greeting all guests as they arrive, answering questions and directing guests to assistance.
Qualifications: Upbeat attitude and warm personality.
 
Check-Out Attendant
Description: Computing purchases using a square reader and recording payment information from winning bidders. Deliver auction items to winning bidders, may include transporting items to their car.
Qualifications: Familiarity with POS type software and card readers attached to tablets. Great people skills and ability to lift forty (40) pounds.
 
We will be holding a volunteer orientation and training on Wednesday, September 20th from 6pm to 8pm at our Nashville office located at 2008 Charlotte Ave.  The training will cover what to expect on event day and how to use our event software being used to check-in/out guests who attend our event on the 28th.  We hope to see you there!
