Volunteer Project AmeriCorps Members

We are seeking two full-time AmeriCorps members to support the agency’s Corporate Partner Program, which engages corporations of all sizes to meet Middle Tennessee's pressing needs through strategic volunteerism. We specialize in the management of customized corporate volunteer projects that address a business's philanthropic focus. From Nashville-based companies to inbound conference groups, HON’s Corporate Partner Program works to connect community-minded businesses with opportunities to give back.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HON recognizes the opportunity to maximize the use of community volunteers –specifically corporate – to benefit the needs of Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and partnering nonprofits in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. The Corporate Partner Program AmeriCorps Members will support this mission by developing, planning, and implementing projects that will maximize the impact of corporate volunteerism on target populations.

Service activities, which will take place both indoors and outdoors, include:

  • Representing HON to Nashville-area businesses and partner organizations.

  • General project preparation tasks associated with large “event-style” service opportunities including tool and material procurement, set up, and tear down.

  • Volunteer leadership and customer service during service opportunities

  • Creating and administering surveys enabling HON to: 1) Accurately assess the needs of partner organizations and 2) Gauge the impact of projects.

  • Coordinating with corporate partners to develop volunteer opportunities and events.

  • Coordinating with MNPS and partner-organization leaders to create and facilitate corporate volunteer opportunities and events.

  • Creating templates and content for associated communication and marketing materials.

  • Devising and implementing strategies to grow corporate volunteerism through new partnerships/increased commitments by existing corporate partners.

Training for any technical skills required to perform successfully in this position will be provided, including training for how to drive and park a truck and tow-behind trailer. The Corporate Partner Program AmeriCorps Members will report directly to HON’s Corporate Partner Program Senior Manager. Some evenings and weekends are required.

RECOMMENDED SKILLS

  • Skills and enthusiasm for operations and business development.

  • Understanding of corporate sector and corporate social responsibility.

  • Excited about engaging adult volunteers in service.

  • Works well independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to schedule and carry out tasks independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Service Term: Ends August 25, 2018

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle. Members will be reimbursed for service-related mileage.

  • Criminal history background check clearance is required.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.

BENEFITS

As a full-time AmeriCorps Member, you will engage in a 12-month service term (minimum 1,700 hours), during which time benefits will include:

  • A living allowance of $12,530, paid in bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) installments.

  • An education award of $5,815, applicable to student loans and/or future education expenses at accredited institution.

  • Healthcare coverage, if elected.

  • Child care benefits, if eligible.

  • Training in volunteer management and program/project-specific training.

  • Professional development, additional life skills, and educational enrichment.
