Technology Instructor
Since 1984, Park Center, a non-profit organization, has provided programs and services for adults with mental illness and substance use disorders in the Nashville community.
Park Center is currently looking for volunteers to teach typing and computer classes (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). The volunteer needs to be someone who is dedicated, energetic, compassionate, and feels comfortable working with a population of individuals with a diagnosed mental illness. The commitment required would be at least once per week, for 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the activity and the volunteer's availability.
Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00-1:30. As far as commitment is concerned, we would like for there to be consistency in your volunteer schedule – same day or days each week, same time – because our members need consistency.
The volunteer process includes an interview; a background check; the completion of an application, a signed confidentiality agreement, and HIPAA training; a tour of the facility where the volunteer has been placed; and a brief orientation.
If you have a desire to help fight the stigma of mental illness while assisting in the recovery of our members through your time and generosity, please consider volunteering with us! We look forward to hearing from you!
