5th-8th Grade Summer Camp Assistant


Martha O'Bryan Center's K-8 Youth Development program serves vulnerable elementary and middle school students attending Stratford, Maplewood, and McGavok cluster schools. Each summer the K-8 Youth Development program hosts a 6 week Summer Camp open to all students in the area. MOBC's Summer Camp splits up students into two groups based on grade level: Kindergarten thru 4th grade and 5th thru 8th grade.
 
A 5th-8th Grade Summer Camp Assistant acts as an aid for the K-8 Education program directors and the students they serve, while supporting the goals of K-8 Education programming and the mission of Martha O'Bryan Center.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist program directors with 5th-8th Grade Summer Camp programming.
  • Develop relationship with 5th-8th grade students.
  • Provide guided reading and math support.
  • Read to and with students, while observing student ability.
  • Help students with completing hands-on STEAM projects with small groups.
  • Sustain the nurturing learning environment for students.
 
Time Commitment: As much time as you are willing to give. 5th-8th Grade Summer Camp runs Monday thru Friday, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
 
Qualifications: Pleasant manner, patience, dependability, exhibits energy and enthusiasm and an interest in working in the nonprofit sector. Ability to commit to a recurring role as a K-4 Summer Camp Assistant is preferred.
 
5th-8th Grade Summer Camp Assistant will need to attend an orientation prior to volunteering.
Looking for individuals with talents in the arts, music, trade, etc. to host workshops or enrichment programming.
