Shelby Park - Cave Spring Cleanup and Nature Walk
Join Friends of Shelby Park for a cleanup at historic Cave Spring - a natural spring around which a concrete grotto was built over 100 years ago. This now crumbling wonder of the park has seen better days. We will be removing debris from the cave and surrounding area and clearing invasive plants to open up the area. We will also discuss the history of the spring and the concrete follies that were built in Shelby Park back in 1912.
This activity will take place out doors and it could be cold, so bundle up. Cleaning in the cave will be muddy, so please wear boots. For clearing invasive material we recommend bringing work gloves. All tools will be provided.
Coffee and Donuts will help get the group energized before we begin.
9 am - 12 pm or whenever you can make it.
