Outdoor (COVID safe) Spring Cleaning for Foster Families

Spring has sprung in Nashville!!!

Monroe Harding does for kids in foster care what a family would do. We provide security, support and give young people a chance for success. Our four key programs - Foster Care, Cooperative Living, Independent Living and Youth Connections - serve young people who are currently in or are transitioning from the foster care system.

As it gets warmer out and things start to bloom, it is on all of our lists to make sure our yards are in tip-top shape. For many families with children that can sometimes fall to the bottom of our to-do list. This rings true for our Foster Families especially, as they dedicate their time to taking care of their family.

WHAT: For this volunteer opportunity, we will be recruiting small groups of volunteers (3-4) on weekend days during the month of April to complete some much needed outdoor home maintenance for our foster families. Each service day will be 3-4 hours. The needs will vary from family to family, but tasks include: landscaping, grass cutting, garage clean out, and other outdoor assistance.

WHEN: April: 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th

WHERE: The location for this service project is listed as Monroe Harding's office as it is imperative that we keep all of our clients addresses confidential. Once we have heard from you, we will have a team member reach out to give more details on addresses, assignments, and groups.

*** This is great for small groups who want to volunteer together!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In accordance with Mayor John Cooper’s Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, Hands On Nashville recommends the following guidelines for volunteering:

Individuals belonging to the following groups should not volunteer for in-person opportunities: ages 65 and up, those with elevated health risk or compromised immune systems, anyone who is feeling unwell (or who has been exposed to/is caring for someone who is sick or has a compromised immune system).

Volunteers who attend projects should take recommended precautions, including maintaining distances between themselves and other people; practicing hand-washing and sanitation of spaces; wearing gloves, masks, and other protective gear; etc. As always, consult a medical professional should you begin to feel unwell at any point during or after a project.

If you decide not to attend a project, please log in to hon.org and remove yourself from the opportunity ahead of time so that another volunteer may have a chance to fill your slot. If you have any trouble with this, email hon@hon.org and we’ll be happy to help!

Please be aware that your project may be canceled with short notice. Projects are subject to change depending on shifting guidelines and circumstances. We appreciate your understanding
