Special Event Intern

The Special Event Intern will play a vital role in supporting Hands On Nashville’s development team, in planning the 2022 Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards, Middle Tennessee's largest celebration of volunteerism. The Special Event Internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about nonprofit fundraising and event management.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
  • Review and vet all nominations submitted for the Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards 
  • Track all nominations using Microsoft Excel 
  • Create packets for volunteer screening and judging 
  • Attend meetings and take notes of the nomination screening sessions  
  • Build excitement for the awards on HON’s social media accounts 
  • Perform administrative tasks and coordinate select event planning logistics, including framing certificates, sending invites, and stuffing envelopes 
  • Help to manage the development team and ensure all deadlines are met 
  • Other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
 
  • Social media savvy with an understanding of HON’s social media channels and audiences 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills 
  • Understands the importance of attending to details 
  • Professional, interpersonal communications skills 
  • Detail-oriented, ability to meet deadlines  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Office, Excel, etc. 
  • Reliable transportation for both regular work hours and special events 
  • Working toward a college degree, with an interest in non-profit development and event management 
  • Belief in HON’s mission to meet community needs through volunteerism 
Hours: Part-time, January 15 – May 6, mix of remote and in-office work 
 
Compensation: This is a volunteer/unpaid internship
