Safe Haven's MLK Day Black Book Drive

Help us provide books to children experiencing homelessness and support a local black-owned business at the same time! From January 3rd to the 31st, Safe Haven Family Shelter is hosting a Black Book Drive in honor of MLK Day.

Here’s how you can help:
-Order any children's book from Alkebu-Lan Images and deliver it to one of the addresses below or buy in-store (2721 Jefferson St, Nashville, TN 37208) and drop-off in our designated bin there! Here’s a link to Alkebu-Lan Image's shop website. And here is an alternate site - books may be searched for and purchased through the site. We welcome any featuring a civil rights leader or diversity, equity, and inclusion. Find favorite titles here.
-Donate gently used or new children’s books featuring a civil rights leader or diversity, equity, and inclusion to Safe Haven or The Family Center.
-Drop off books or mail to Safe Haven Family Shelter (1234 3rd Ave S, Nashville, TN 37210) or The Family Center (139 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37211). Drop-off time is Monday-Friday 9am-4pm.

Send questions and inquiries to Byjan at bkajaei@safehaven.org.

Safe Haven is the only shelter-to-housing program of its kind in Middle Tennessee that accepts the entire homeless family. We keep the family together and provide comprehensive services that empower them to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. As our name implies, we have an emergency shelter program, but we also offer a Transitional Housing Program and Rapid Rehousing Program. Safe Haven Family Shelter’s comprehensive approach is one of service, compassion, trauma-informed care and evidenced-bases practices.
