2022 Hike for Safe Haven

 
The Hike for Safe Haven benefits Safe Haven Family Shelter, the premier shelter-to-housing program in Middle Tennessee that works alongside families experiencing homelessness. Safe Haven’s mission is to lead the community’s efforts to house, support, empower and advocate for families experiencing homelessness. Join us as we hike to give families a place to call home. 
  
Safe Haven Family Shelter is gearing up for the 18th annual Hike for Safe Haven, a Nashville favorite for its heavy dose of outdoor fun for friends and family, on Saturday, November 12, at Percy Warner Park (Bob Brown Field Station off of Highway 100). This pet- and stroller-friendly event includes hiking on a paved trail, food, live music, children’s activities and more! It takes over 100 volunteers to make this event a success. Sign up to volunteer on your own or with friends, family or colleagues. Opportunities include helping with set up/cleanup, registration, children’s activities, t-shirt distribution, and more. 6:45am - 9:00am - Early Morning Set-Up and Check-In Prep 
Volunteers during this shift will be working to unload supplies, move tables and chairs, hang signage, and set up the volunteer and hiker check-in stations. These volunteers should dress comfortably and wear supportive shoes. This role requires being able to lift boxes and supplies and stand for long periods of time. 
  
8:00am - 11:00am - Event Shift 1 
The first shift of our event includes a variety of volunteer roles. You may be tasked with working on any of the following areas at the event. 
  • Hiker + Volunteer Check-In 
  • Food Tent 
  • Event Greeter 
  • Photo Booth 
  • T-Shirt Tent 
  • Supplies/Runner 
  • Children's Area 
* Some roles require lifting boxes or standing for long periods of time. If you have any concerns about the physicality of a role, please note that when signing up! * 
  
10:30am - 1:30pm - Event Shift 2 
The first shift of our event includes a variety of volunteer roles. You may be tasked with working on any of the following areas at the event. 
 
  • Volunteer Check-In 
  • Food Tent 
  • Photo Booth 
  • T-Shirt Tent 
  • Supplies/Runner 
  • Children's Area 
*Some roles require lifting boxes or standing for long periods of time. If you have any concerns about the physicality of a role, please note that when signing up! * 
  
12:00pm - 2:00pm - Afternoon Clean Up 
Volunteers will pack event supplies, clean up the event area, pick up trash, take down signs, and load up materials. These volunteers should dress comfortably and wear supportive shoes. This role requires being able to lift boxes and supplies and stand for long periods of time. 
  
2:00pm - 4:00pm - Unloading at Safe Haven 
Volunteers will meet the team at Safe Haven after the event to unload the truck of event supplies and assist with organizing them in our event storage. This role requires lifting and carrying.
