Trail Tuesday at Mill Ridge Park
Join us every Tuesday and become a regular member of the Ridge Runner Trail Crew on the newly established primitive hiking trail system at Mill Ridge Park in Antioch, TN. These trails are not yet open to the public, as volunteer trail crew members continue to work tirelessly to mark, measure, brush, and build features along the trail system in anticipation of our grand opening. Tasks will vary by the season, but will often include instructed outdoor tasks along hiking trails such as:
- Brushing and removal of vegetation to maintain an appropriate trail corridor spacing
- Marking and measuring of trails to ensure accurate mapping
- Preparation and creation of trail markers, as well as informational signage
- Small-scale invasive species removal projects
- Creation and maintenance of water features (water bars/drainage dips) to prevent soil erosion
Volunteers should dress for applicable weather conditions. We recommend pants and shoes with adequate tread suitable for outdoor activity on rough, uneven terrain. Snacks, drinks, and any necessary tools/supplies will be provided. Sunscreen and bugspray are available. A portable toilet is accessible on-site.
Mill Ridge Park is a 622+ acre regional park, centrally located in the fast-growing and diverse community of Southeast Davidson County. Friends of Mill Ridge Park enhances and advocates for Mill Ridge Park to strengthen the community in Southeast Davidson County. Friends of Mill Ridge Park hosts and facilitates community driven education, recreation, and conservation focused volunteer opportunities, as well as programmed activities that include seasonal guided hikes, kite fests, pumpkin patch parties, and night sky viewings.
